Public Relations & Press Photography

It all began in the early sixties, when the young sports and news photographer decided to quit his job at a local freelance agency. David Simm was one of the youngest ever national newspaper photographers to be given a press pass for the hallowed Wembly turf, the most famous sports arena on earth.

From those early beginnings David Simm, covered Rugby, League and Union, Soccer, Motor Sports, along with hard news and features for a variety of Britain's national newspapers.

His magazine and newspaper background was invaluable when he decided to open a full service studio, in his north of England home town of Wigan.

He applied his journalistic flair to a wide variety of assignments, including corporate functions, presentations and civic inaugurations.

In the early sixties he made photographic backdrops for network television current affairs programmes. He has illustrated how to do it manuals and covered Royal visits,
civic banquets and a whole host of PR events in both
monochrome and colour.

The last sporting event David Simm Covered, for his former newspaper bosses, was the resurection of The Lancashire Rugby Union Cup Final, after 70 years
of lying dormant. The winning try was scored by Barry Fishwick and David Simm was there to immortalise it.

1974 was the last year that David Simm elected to carry a press card, resigning his membership of the National Union of Journalists to pursue a career in commercial and social photography.
